Workforce Structure

Hospital Staffing Overview

As of the end of 2024, Zuoying Armed Forces General Hospital has a total of 918 full-time employees. About 96% of them are on permanent contracts. Since our hospital is part of the military medical system, the team includes 166 military personnel and 752 civilian staff. Medical and nursing staff are the core of our workforce, with nurses making up the largest group. As a result, the majority of our employees are women.
In addition to our direct staff, we rely on outsourced workers and volunteers to support non-medical services. In 2024, we had 137 outsourced workers covering areas such as cleaning, security, laundry, delivery, food service, driving, air conditioning and equipment maintenance, as well as convenience store clerks, barbers, and medical supply vendors inside the hospital. We also recruits volunteers according to the Volunteer Service Act and our hospital’s volunteer management guidelines. In 2024, we had a total of 65 volunteers supporting our work.

Employee Turnover

New Hires and Resignations

Since 2022, our hospital’s new hire rate increased from 8.13% to 13.07%. In 2024, to reduce the nurse-to-patient ratio and create a better work environment, we added 30 military nursing staff. Most of the new hires were women.  However, the turnover rate in 2024 reached 12.75%, which is higher than in 2022 and 2023. Nurses make up about half of our workforce, and the increased resignations were mainly due to the challenging healthcare environment caused by the pandemic.  To address this, in November 2023, the hospital raised the pay grade for nurses, significantly increasing their salaries to help improve retention.

We also conduct interviews with employees who leave, to better understand their reasons for resigning. This feedback helps us make future improvements to the workplace.
